I like the contrast that comes from light. You can't get there with darkness. Light must be present to get contrast.
The idea that light and shadow embrace an object is a theme to consider. Is the shadow darkness, or is it just a darker shade of light? Does the object exist without the embrace of light and it's shadow? Does the shadow belong to the light or to the object?
